Al-Andalus (Islamic Spain): Way To Final Defeat of Islam in Spain 1492, Andalusian Muslims Punished by Allah for Corruption and Attachment to Dunya

Everything is connected: when a big master or ruler falls, small pawns start deadly fight for power, destabilizing whole society and its defence capabilities against internal and external threats, like in the long bygone Al-Andalus, which perished, because the original single sultanate fragmented into small “taifas”, the Muslim rulers started intriguing against each other, and one after one, these small kingdoms without sufficient defence capabilities were conquered by relatively unified Christian enemy…

Until merely the last stronghold remained, the Emirate of Granada, but even this extremely risky situation didn’t stop the son from betraying the father, fighting for power, connecting with Christians against his own blood, and ironically, then betraying Christians, being captured by them twice, but not executed, deliberately released back onto scene, because the Christians knew, that this fool can literally undermine the whole Emirate for them, betraying everybody, thuse serving to their interests perfectly…

Then, in 1491, when Christian conquerors reached the gates of Granada, there was no big fight, the result was decided from the start, as even the Islamic allies denied to send reinforcements, ignored the urgent requests from complicated geopolitical reasons, betraying their Spanish brothers to keep their alliances, leaving Granada to its own fate, without realizing, how much will this event smear the shining Islamic history…

And this day of final defeat and surrender, 2nd January 1492, when Granada fell, the defenders opened gates and the ruler himself went to “welcome” the aggressors, making them “comfortable” in Alhambra Palace, even giving them keys from the city, as they were willing to offer apaprently quite generous terms of surrender (Treaty of Granada, keeping religious freedoms), had immense consequences for hundreds of thousands of Andalusian Muslims, who were later expelled, killed, stripped of property and rights, their religion, customs, language forbidden, books burned, mosques converted to churches or destroyed, and Muslims (called then Moriscos) got only three choices: leave (but pay for passage, and lose all the property), convert to Christianity, betray Allah, or to be killed/enslaved.

Still, many of them were not willing to leave, and they really converted, at least oficially, there was even a subversive Oran fatwa issued (today, we could suspects the Christians from issuing it covertly, as it’s so un-Islamic, to make the Moriscos “softer”, making concessions), although it’s a BASIC DUTY of Muslim to emigrate, if he is religiously oppressed…

Still, some of these converted Muslims even returned from Islamic Morocco into their old homes under infidel rule, like being under some spell… they were simply too attached to their old land, to their old homes, to their world of transient dunya, obsessed, or not willing to give up, anyway, these ancient Muslims failed, and Allah rightfully punished them, replaced them with others.
